Paeonia ludlowii
Deciduous shroub. 1 to 2.5m high, 3.5m
highest. Binato-ternate compound leaf,
with beautiful coppery colour. 2 to 4
flowers, terminal or axillary, 8 to 12 cm
in diameter. Yellow petals, filaments and
anthers. 1 capel, seldom 2 capels.
Flowering in May, fruiting in Aug to Sept.
Helio -, thermophyllous, no tolerance to
poorness and heat. Only from Mainling and
Nyingchi, the Yaluzangbu valley and
forestedge, 2900 to 3200m. A treasure of
ornamental and breeding material.
