The serene and mysterious Tibet has been captured through the lenses of 50 noted photographers. The exhibitions went on display in Paris. Tibet Through the Eyes of World Famous Photographers takes visitors to the region in different phases and through various perspectives.
Over 100 photos take viewers through a panorama of Tibet: politics, economics, culture, society and the lives of ordinary people. The photographers come from 19 countries and regions. Many spoke of the hospitality of the Tibetan people and magnificent views they captured on film.
Chinese officials heartily concurred, calling the exhibition just a preface to a book on Tibet. They welcomed more international friends to visit, investigate and research Tibet as a whole.
Also on display are 13 Tangkas which offer a glimpse into Tibetan religion, medicine and the history of Tibetan people.
The photo exhibition comes on the heels of the mammoth cultural exchange, the China Year in France. It's jointly organized by the China Cultural Exchange Association and the Chinese Embassy in France.
French senators approve Tibet's economic growth
by:Zheng Peng 2007-09-21 14:06:02
"Tibet's economy has been developed rapidly with the great help of the central government," this is the common view shared by some seven French senators when meeting with the visiting Chinese Tibetologists & Tibetan Living Buddha Delegation in Paris on September 19. Vice-chairman of French senate Michelle Andre hosted the meeting.
Though she has never been to Tibet before, Michelle Andre was very interested in Tibet and hoped to pay a visit there as soon as she could.
One of senators mentioned his visit to Xigaze last year. He was impressed by the huge investment put by Chinese central government there as well as the amazing achievement.
Wang Pijun, deputy-secretary general of China Foreign Cultural Exchange Association, introduced Chinese central government's policy towards Tibet Autonomous Region. The central government has always paid special attention to the development in minority areas. Moreover, Tibet gets extra care due to its harsh natural conditions. To further drive the economic development in Tibet, the central government has put as much as 80 billion yuan for fix assets investment and financial subsidiary during the 10th "Five-year-plan" and another 150 billion yuan investment on various projects will be applied to Tibet during the 11th "Five-year-plan" .
Seeing is believing. The French senators are welcome to visit Tibet in their convenience so as to better understand the profound changes there, said Wang Pijun.
